Julie Sweet Assumes CEO Role at Accenture

Julie Sweet has assumed the role of chief executive officer of Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and joined the company’s board of directors. She succeeds David Rowland, who has assumed the role of executive chairman after serving as interim chief executive officer since Jan. 10.


Marge Magner, non-executive chair of the board since Jan. 10, has resumed her previous role as lead independent director.

Since 2015, Sweet has served as chief executive officer of Accenture’s business in North America, the company’s largest geographic market. Previously, she was Accenture’s general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer for five years. Outside of Accenture, Sweet is a leader on topics including innovation, technology’s impact on business, and inclusion and diversity.

As executive chairman, Rowland will chair the board of directors, continue to be actively involved in
Accenture’s long-term business strategy, and represent the company with clients around the world and with key external groups. Throughout his 36-year career with Accenture, Rowland has held significant leadership roles, including serving as CFO from July 2013 to Jan. 2019, and played a major role in shaping the company’s growth strategy.
