Baseco Kids Receive Samsung TV Donation

Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (SEPCO) donates two TV units to the World Mission Community (WMC) Center in Baseco, Tondo. WMC is a non-government organization (NGO) partnered with World Christian Fellowship (WCF) in helping the residents of Baseco Compound, particularly the children.

The TVs will serve as visual media aids for community development initiatives of the two organizations. WMC and WCF regularly conduct feeding, healthcare and education programs for the kids of the Baseco community.

“These communities do not have access to a lot of basic necessities such as food and education,” says Nico Garcia, SEPCO CSV and Government Relations head. “The work of WMC and WCF in empowering Baseco resonates with Samsung’s vision of creating a better world through innovation. We wish to elevate their means to educate and enable the residents.”

WMC and WFC provide support to almost 1,000 children of the compound. The WMC Three O’clock Feeding Center operates every lunchtime from Monday to Saturday. On the other hand, WFC offers scholarships to select students and healthcare support to the community, particularly kids with tuberculosis.

“We are beyond thankful for Samsung’s donation to our organization,” shares Lee Kang Seok, WMC head. “The TVs will allow us to activate our programs more efficiently by improving the learning tools we use, and expanding the skillset of our staff.”

SEPCO is adamant in its mission to utilize technology in contributing to social, community, environmental and cultural development. It continues to dedicate social responsibility efforts through partnerships with global and local organizations, and nation-building initiatives.
